In an interview, Meeting Ears is most useful as a memory aid: your own facts, numbers and stories, at hand when the question comes. The answers can only be as good as the preset you prepare.
Play fair
Follow the rules of the interview or assessment you take part in. If the employer or the platform does not allow assistance tools, don’t use Meeting Ears there. Tell the people you speak with if the law or the setting requires it. See the acceptable use policy.
Set up a project for the job
- Create a project for the company (Context → + New project), for example “Acme – Platform engineer”.
- Make a preset per round: “Recruiter screen”, “Technical”, “Hiring manager”. Set Answer length to Brief: in a live conversation you need something to glance at, not an essay.
- If the invite is in your calendar, attach it to the project and preset (Calendar), or use Create preset from this invite.
Your CV
- Save your CV as plain text (
cv.txtorcv.md) and add it with + Add file. PDF and Word aren’t supported yet; copy the text out of them. - Answers are written as you, from your real experience. Missing facts are not invented, so the CV and notes should hold what you want to say.
The job description and the company
- Add the job description as a document.
- In the notes: what the company does, the team, their stack or tools, and why you want the role.
Your stories and numbers
Write 4–6 short stories in the notes, each as Situation, Task, Action, Result, with real numbers: the incident you handled, the project you led, a conflict you solved, a failure and what you learned. Add the questions you want to ask them. These are what interviewers remember.
During the interview
- Wear headphones, and run a short test before the call (audio check).
- Keep Questions from on Others and Auto on, so questions are answered when the interviewer finishes.
- Glance at the points, then answer in your own words. Read-out answers sound read out.
- A question split over several lines, or asked a minute ago? Click it in the transcript and press Answer.
After the interview
- The interview is saved in History with the questions answered. Export it to Markdown and note what to improve.
- Before the next round, Regenerate in the preset writes a summary of the earlier rounds into the context (see Regenerate context).
